Many universities offer undergraduate and graduate degrees in area studies, including programs focused on Africa, Asia or the Middle East, among other regions of the world.

The University of California in Berkeley, CA

Harvard University in Cambridge, MA

Students can find bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree programs in area studies at Boston University. BU is also home to the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies, which supports both undergraduate and graduate-level training in area studies. Through the Pardee School and the College of Arts and Sciences, students can pursue a major in International Relations with an emphasis in Asian Studies, European Studies, Latin American Studies, or Middle Eastern & North African Studies. The Pardee School also offers minors in each of these subjects, as well as African Language & Literatures, African Studies, Muslim Societies and Muslim Cultures. At the graduate level, the Pardee School offers nine graduate degrees and two certificate programs in subjects such as International Relations & Religion and Latin American Studies, among others.
