The College of Lake County (CLC) is home to well over 17,000 students and offers certificate and associate's degree programs. CLC has three campuses, the largest of which is in Grayslake, and many extension sites, including a bartending school, medical center and fire department. The Business Division at CLC provides career track and transfer programs, including options in computer information technology. It offers an Associate in Applied Science - Web Programmer and a Certificate in Web Programming. The Communication Arts, Humanities and Fine Arts Division has an Associate in Applied Science in Digital Media and Design - Web Development program.
In the 21-credit-hour Certificate in Web Programming program, students learn to build Web pages and interfaces using server-side scripting and Web applications. The program's focus is on Web programming for database applications. Students learn HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language), PHP (Hypertext Preprocessor) and SQL (Structured Query Language) programming techniques. Students also explore database administration, database maintenance and security.
The 60- to 64-credit Associate in Applied Science in Web Programming program covers Web design, from single static pages to dynamic websites that make use of programming languages and Web-based applications. Students are introduced to Java, Visual Basic, Visual C++ and SQL programming languages. Students also explore networking, PHP and server-side scripting.
