There is only one for-profit school offering Web design studies located directly in Memphis, with only a few other schools found within 100 miles of the city that provide these types of programs. Based on ranking, school type and student-to-faculty ratio, the following university is considered a top school in the Memphis area for Web design programs:

Union University offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral programs to nearly 4,000 students per year. The College of Arts and Sciences at Union University is home to 15 academic departments. The Department of Art offers a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Digital Media Studies with a concentration in art and the Department of Communication Arts has a Bachelor of Arts in Digital Media Studies program that provides a concentration in communication arts. The Department of Computer Science also offers a minor in digital media studies.
In the B.A. in Digital Media Studies - Art program, students will take courses in art history, visual theory, graphic design and drawing. Students will also explore foundational topics in digital media. The B.A. in Digital Media Studies - Communication Arts program contains courses in mass media, communication theory, digital storytelling and digital photography. Courses relating to Web design include interactive design and photo editing. The bachelor's degree program in computer science with a minor in digital media studies takes more of a technical approach, with courses taken in programming, software engineering and operating systems. Web design courses include computer graphics, Web applications development and website building and management.
