West Valley College is a 2-year, public school that sits on 143 acres in the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains. The approximately 10,000 students who call West Valley College home can choose from among almost 150 associate's degree and certificate programs. More than two-thirds of the students are enrolled part-time at the college.
Found within West Valley College's Digital Media/Internet Services Department are several programs focusing on digital publishing and media design, including a certificate program in Web design and an Associate of Arts in Web and Mobile Design. In the degree program, students take basic courses in digital imaging and design principles and learn how to use various Web design tools, such as Dreamweaver and Illustrator. Among the elective courses offered, students can select courses in blog development, digital video and Search Engine Optimization (SEO). In addition, students have the opportunity to create a portfolio. West Valley also offers an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Communication and Media, which offers Web design studies.
