Jefferson State Community College

Jefferson State Community College, established in 1965, serves over 8,500 undergraduate students. JSCC awards certificates and associate's degrees in over 120 college-transfer programs and 20 career programs. The main campus is in Birmingham, with three other campuses in outlying areas.
The Business and Information Systems Department at JSCC has high-tech computer labs with internet access. The department offers a Web Technologies Certificate and an Associate in Applied Science in Computer Information Systems Technology.
Students can complete the Web Technology Advanced Certificate (30 credits) or the Web Technology Certificate (27 credits). Both of these options introduce students to networking communications, computer logic and programming and web page development.
The computer information systems technology associate's program has four concentration options in microcomputer applications, computer programming, computer networking and web technologies. Topics in the web technologies program include database management systems, e-commerce, Java programming, network infrastructure design and server administration.
