Northeast Wisconsin Technical College serves more than 10,000 students per year through on-campus programs, but reaches out to a total of 42,000 students annually when online programs are factored in. The school offers more than 100 degree and diploma programs, as well as 80 certificate programs spread across 12 fields of interest, including the field of information and office technology. Students can pursue a certificate in Web design or Web design technician, as well as an associate's degree in Web development.
The Web Design Certificate program consists of 15 credit hours, teaching students how to design and code Web pages, use graphics and animation, create functional navigation and format pages. Specific courses include Macintosh-intro, image editing, Web animation design, Web graphic design and Web coding. The credits from the certificate program can be transferred over to the Web development associate degree program. The Web Design Technician Program consists of 26 credits taken in such courses as Web content management, image editing, Website coding and scripting.
In addition to learning how to code and program Web pages, students enrolled in the Associate Degree in Web Development program also learn how to integrate Web technologies into established or new business systems. Core courses in the 66-credit-hour program include Web coding, graphic design, network operating systems, database development, Web campaign management, Web scripting, field research and online searching strategies. Completion of the program also requires general education courses.
