The 2-year, public Phoenix College offers more than 150 degree and certificate programs through its 15 departments. It serves a total of 30,000 full- and part-time students annually. The computer information systems and web development programs at Phoenix College are offered through its Business Department. The department aims to provide students with the educational background necessary to either gain an entry-level position in the business field or transfer to a 4-year university. The department also offers students scholarship and internship opportunities to help them gain real-world experience before graduation.
Certificates are offered in web development and web design. These provide studies in corporate web page management, Adobe Photoshop and application development. They also cover the fundamentals of web scripting, web principles, web publishing, web design and e-commerce. An Associate in Applied Science in Web Design is also granted by this college through its Fine and Performing Arts Department. Students enrolled in this program take courses in Micromedia Flash, 2-dimensional design, digital photography and portfolio development.
