For web developers, growth is largely due to the increasing popularity of mobile devices and e-commerce. As of May 2015, the median annual salary for web developers was $64,970.

Technology changes rapidly, so web developers can update their skills by earning certifications in relevant fields. Certification programs are offered through training institutes and product vendors. Many employers in the industry require job applicants to hold certain certifications.
