Affordable Florida Christian Colleges Summary

Seeking an affordable education in Florida needn't be difficult. The following colleges offer undergraduate and graduate degrees at some of Florida's Christian colleges at a reasonable tuition rate.

The Baptist College of Florida

This college is the only one this list that is in Florida's ''panhandle''. Accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Commission on Colleges, the Baptist College of Florida offers associate's, bachelor's, and master's degrees. Some of the degrees are in Christian education, missions, music, business leadership, and psychology. Students and faculty are expected to attend the three chapel services offered each week. Students can join several clubs and organizations on campus; one in particular for students interested in the media arts is the campus radio station that plays Christian music and has special guests. Intramural athletics are unique on campus; ultimate Frisbee, flag football, kickball, and dodgeball are just a few of the sports available.

Edward Waters College

Eight areas of study are available at Edward Waters College (EWC): music, mathematics, biology, communications, psychology, education, business, and criminal justice. This historically black college incorporates mission requirements into its degree programs to complement core, major, and elective coursework. There are 12 different sports teams for student to get involved with, while weekly Bible classes, worship services, and spiritual revivals give students the chance to rest in God's word.

University of Fort Lauderdale

The University of Fort Lauderdale (UFTL) has degree programs from the associate's level all the way through the master's level. Students can undertake one of the associate's, bachelor's, or master's degree programs in ministry or business administration. At the Faith Center, UFTL's spiritual partnership, students can find restoration through one of eight ministries, including the prison ministry and the marriage ministry. Students are encouraged to get involved with the ministries to spread the word of God and to join in fellowship.

Hobe Sound Bible College

As the most economical on the list, Hobe Sound Bible College focuses its degree programs on faith-based principles. Many of the programs, such as the TESOL and music education programs, are taught with the idea of applying skills and knowledge into the secular world and in ministry. Even the aviation program, offered as a 2-year program, is called the Missionary Flight Training program and focuses on Christian perspectives. A strong spiritual life can be found on campus, as the school shares the land with Hope International Missions, a missions organization that has worked in over 55 countries. Also, there are chapel services throughout the week, and each morning, the auditorium is open for prayer and reflection. There are two dorms for residents, and every Friday, students come together to participate in intramural sports.

South Florida Bible College and Theological Seminary

Accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE), South Florida Bible College and Theological Seminary is another affordable choice for students who are looking to earn their associate's, bachelor's, or master's degree. As a Bible college, students study one of several theological and biblical-based programs, such as religious education or biblical studies. Students in the Christian business management, counseling or ministry bachelor's programs are required to earn 100 hours of practicum or internship experience in their field of study. This allows them to put their skills and knowledge to use in a real-world setting and to prepare for their careers.
