Affordable MBA Programs in New York State

SUNY - Oswego

One affordable option is to earn an MBA at the State University of New York (SUNY) - Oswego. For full-time, in-state students in the 2018-2019 school year, the graduate tuition was $5,545 per semester, and out-of-state students paid $7,425. Graduate teaching assistantships and diversity fellowships can further assist with tuition costs. Within the program, students can focus their MBA program on public accounting, business administration, or health services administration. Courses can be taken online or on two different campuses. MBA classes are small, with an average of 20 students per class. A yearly alumni symposium provides networking opportunities. To apply, students should submit transcripts with an undergraduate G.P.A. of 2.6 or higher. GMAT scores should also be provided, with 500 as a minimum score. Other items to submit include a resume, a business essay, and three recommendations.

University of Albany

The University of Albany also offers an affordable MBA option. Full-time New York residents paid $7,425 per semester in 2018-2019, while out-of-state graduate tuition was $12,195. The full-time MBA program offers six concentrations, including cybersecurity and business analytics. All first-year students engage in a program called Going Green Globally (G3), where they spend a week working in collaborative teams to solve business problems. Second-year students can engage in field projects, research, or mentorship opportunities. Applicants should provide transcripts, GMAT scores, three recommendations, and a goal statement.

University of Buffalo

The University of Buffalo offers an MBA which may be considered affordable in the state. In 2018-2019, New York residents had a tuition rate of $14,700 per year, while those who are out-of-state residents paid $24,680. Scholarships and assistantships are also available to defray costs. Various MBA concentrations are available, including healthcare management and management consulting. Buffalo offers the Corporate Champions program as a component of first-year core courses. In this program, students work in teams to develop an enterprise project with a defined corporate enterprise. Students can also develop core leadership competencies through the Leadercore program. Applicants should provide the results of GMAT or GRE tests, two recommendations, a personal statement, resume, and transcript.

Mercy College

At Mercy College, in Dobbs Ferry, students can work towards their MBA in an affordable manner. Mercy College tuition for its MBA program is $891/credit for the 2018-2019 school year. However, students have the opportunity to significantly reduce the number of credits required for their MBA by participating in the MBA turbo program, which is an intensive one-month program after which students can test out of many MBA prerequisite courses. MBA students can focus on several areas, including marketing and organizational leadership. Students should provide transcripts and a resume, while the GMAT is optional.

SUNY - New Paltz

Suny - New Paltz provides an affordable MBA program. Tuition for full-time and in-state MBA students is $7,425 per semester in 2018-2019, while out-of-state tuition costs are $12,195. All students participate in a non-credit business workshop, which covers topics of ethics and professional writing. Students have the opportunity to participate in a business plan contest or internship in place of one elective. Applicants should provide transcripts, and a minimum 3.0 GPA is recommended; and GRE scores above 300 or GMAT scores above 450. Other application requirements include 3 letters of recommendation, a statement of objectives, and basic quantitative and writing skills.
