Description of the Baptist Online Colleges
Baptist colleges with online degree programs typically provide a variety of undergraduate and/or graduate programs in different fields. Here we discuss some of these schools, their programs and other distinguishing characteristics.
Anderson University in South Carolina had a little over 2,940 undergraduate students and close to 490 graduate students in 2016, per the NCES. The university offers online, undergraduate degree programs in fields like criminal justice, organizational leadership, emergency services management, Christian studies and human services, as well as an online Doctor of Ministry and several online master's degree programs in areas such as education and business administration. Online students also receive a Journey Coach from their particular area of study who checks in on a monthly basis and helps students through various stages of the program, including registering for classes and finding financial aid. To grow in their faith and stay connected to the university, online students can live stream chapel services.
Baylor University in Texas offers several graduate-level, online degree programs that require both project and field work for hands-on learning experience. Students can pursue online master's degree programs in nursing, law or business administration, or online doctoral programs in nursing, education, physical therapy, social work or occupational therapy. In 2016, the NCES reported that the university had close to 14,350 undergraduate students and about 2,610 graduate students. Online students can watch chapel services online and/or engage in the Baylor This I Believe website, where students and alumni share spiritual-themed essays, to deepen their faith.
Maranatha Baptist University
Online students at Maranatha Baptist University can subscribe to the school's sermon podcasts on iTunes or RSS, as well as visit the school's channel on SermonAudio, to grow spiritually and feel connected to the university. The university has a unique online Maranatha Baptist Seminary and Bible Certificate, but also offers online undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Students can pursue online associate's degrees in areas like Christian ministry, digital media, criminal justice and humanities; bachelor's degrees in Bible, educational studies, interdisciplinary studies or business; and master's degree programs in education or organizational leadership. According to the NCES, the university had a little more than 940 undergraduate students and about 180 graduate students in 2016.
Oklahoma Baptist University
Oklahoma Baptist University had 1,960 undergraduate students and a little more than 110 graduate students in 2016, per the NCES. The university offers a few online, graduate-level programs, including an online RN to MSN program, Master of Business Administration and Master of Arts in Christian Studies. The online RN to MSN program has an option to exit with a BSN and includes flexible intensive sessions for hands-on learning. The university archives its chapel services online and also has its own YouTube channel where online students can stay connected to the university and deepen their faith.
Oregon's Corban University has online degree programs in business and psychology that have 8-week long courses with online discussions and resources. Students can concentrate their online business degree program in marketing, accounting or leadership and management. Online psychology degree programs are available in pre-clinical/counseling or family studies. The university had about 1,020 undergraduates and a little over 170 graduate students in 2016, per the NCES. Online students interested in further developing their faith through the university can listen to recorded chapel messages through the school's website.
