Career Information for Millennials

Registered Nurse

If you have an interest in the medical field and love helping others, one growing career is that of a registered nurse. Registered nurses care for and support their patients in hospitals, nursing homes, urgent care facilities, and in-home healthcare. Because of the rapid growth expected for this position through 2024, millennials will find numerous opportunities over their lifetime as a registered nurse. To work as a registered nurse, most positions require individuals to have earned a bachelor's degree in nursing, as well as all required licenses.

Marketing Manager

Because of the generation in which they grew up, millennials have the greatest advantage when it comes to social media knowledge. As a result, they have amazing potential when working in positions that require an expert understanding of various social media platforms. In addition to planning in-person promotions, marketing managers are often required to have a thorough understanding of how to run successful social media promotions. Marketing managers must have relevant professional experience (gained through internships and previous marketing positions), and they must have at least a bachelor's degree in a related field.

Physician Assistant

Millennials are often known as being team-oriented and for having a desire to know that their work truly matters. Physician assistants (also known as PAs) work in a team setting with physicians and other medical professionals to deliver the best possible medical care. They are responsible for diagnosing and treating a wide range of conditions, which can be a great source of job satisfaction for those who love helping others. Before working as a physician assistant, you are required to earn a master's degree, as well as the required state license.

Writer/Author

Do you have a talent for writing engaging copy and an exceptional understanding of grammar and spelling? Millennials who have these skills will find ample opportunities to write blog posts, articles, ad copy, brochures, and more for organizations. Professional writers often work as independent contractors, and as a result, have the flexibility to work when and where they desire. Although some writing positions only require relevant experience, many require a bachelor's degree in a relevant area (such as communications or English).

Customer Service Representative

Looking for an engaging, growing field of work that provides excellent work-life balance? Customer service representatives handle phone and email communication from customers, and often have the opportunity to work flexible hours. Because of the 24/7 customer support availability offered by most companies, an increasing number of major companies are allowing their customer service representatives to work from home. Many customer support positions require a high school diploma or equivalent.
