Having a CPR certification is a valuable asset that should be included on a resume, especially if you are pursuing a position in a health-related industry where the likelihood of needing to use these skills can be high on a daily basis. If you are going to work in any capacity with patients or children, it would be useful, and in many cases mandatory, to have this qualification from a recognized provider, such as the American Red Cross. Some employers encourage this certification for their employees and sometimes provide the training on site, not only because it is a life-saving skill that everyone will be able to employ, but also because there are insurance benefits for the business or organization if its employees can certify that they have acquired and are able to perform these skills. Beware of online certification programs because they most likely will not be accepted by an employer, many times because they have not been accredited and are not recognized, often because there is no live demonstration of being able to perform the skills.
