The grade point average (GPA) typically required for admission to trade school is a 2.0 or higher. This is approximately a "C" average in all of your classes.

There may be additional admission requirements for trade school as well. These include a high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate and passing the Career Programs Assessment Test (CPAT) (a standardized test measuring basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills). Some trade schools may require SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) and ACT (American College Testing) exam scores or require certain prerequisite courses to be taken in high school. For example, English courses, math courses, social sciences, physical sciences, and/or world language may be required.
