Answer:
According to the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) is required to practice physical therapy in the United States. In addition, students must earn DPT degree from a CAPTE-accredited (Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education) physical therapy education program.
However, according to APTA, you can become a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) with an associates degree. The amount of time required to become a PTA typically takes 5 semesters, or 2 years. Some of the subjects you will be required to study include anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, kinesiology, neuroscience, ethics, and more. Studies will take place in lectures, labs, and clinical experiences. After successful completion of the degree, every student is required to pass a certification exam and obtain licensure in their state.
