You can get a certification for Spanish interpretation from the American Translator's Association (ATA). The ATA is the premier professional organization that certifies and promotes translators and interpreters in the United States. Their certification is the most recognized form of language proficiency for translators and interpreters all over the country. To be certified by the ATA, you must first apply to be a member of the association. Once you're a member, you can take their certification exam. Their proctored exam is three hours long and is open-book. You will translate several passages from one language to another, among other tests. The exam costs $525 and it currently has a passing rate of 20%. Once you pass the exam, you can use the certification to prove your professional level of mastery in your chosen language, like Spanish.
