Question:
How important is food protection manager certification?

Answer:
Obtaining a food manager certification is important, because it provides managers with knowledge of proper food safety practices and how to prevent food-borne illnesses in order to protect the public, other food workers, and businesses. This certification may also be a requirement of the state in which you live. Most states require that a Person in Charge (PIC) of a food business show knowledge of food safety as per the FDA Food Code. This can be done by taking an approved Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) training course and passing the ANSI-Accredited Exam. Examples of food establishments are restaurants, bakeries, food trucks, markets, bars, and mobile food vendors.
The National Registry of Food Safety Professionals is an organization that offers a Food Safety Manager Certification Program that is accepted throughout the United States and meets regulatory requirements. You can also use Study.com to look up schools in your state that offer Food Safety Certificates.
