In the Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Roswell area of Georgia, respiratory therapists make an average amount of $60,850 per year, or $29.26 per hour, according to the BLS. In the South Georgie nonmetropolitan area, respiratory therapists have an average salary of $50,320 per year, or $24.19 per hour (BLS).

Typically, respiratory therapists must have at least an associate's degree, but they often have bachelor's degrees. While in college, respiratory therapists will take courses in anatomy, physiology, microbiology, and other similar areas. After completing a degree, these therapists must also become licensed in Georgia. The main board through which respiratory therapists can become licensed is the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Through this organization, therapists can either become a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) and Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
