Answer:

Many colleges offer options for online education in pursuit of a career as a business analyst. Not only is it possible to take individual classes, but some schools offer programs that contain a specific sequence of courses for prospective business analysts that result in a business analysis certificate. A certificate may be beneficial, as it indicates higher education, but typically takes only a year and can be completed part-time. Several examples include:

  • Franklin University offers four, twelve-week-long online courses in business analysis. If all four are taken, one earns an Advanced Certificate in Business Analysis.
  • UCLA offers fourteen online business analysis courses on a semester schedule. Completing six required courses and an elective yields a Business Analysis Certificate.
  • UC Berkeley offers an online, five-course sequence leading to a Business Analysis Certificate. Courses are completed in a continuous fashion and do not require any live attendance.

Each of these programs differ in time commitment, cost, and exact content, so it is important to individually evaluate the merits of each.
