Is logistics a good career choice?
Question:
Is logistics a good career choice?
Perfect School Search
Answer:
Logisticians have a median wage significantly higher than the national median wage, can expect average job growth, and have moderate entry requirements.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported a 2019 median wage of $74,750 per year, significantly higher than the 2019 national median wage of $39,810. The BLS projects 5% job growth for logisticians between 2018 and 2028, the same rate as the projected average growth for all industries in he same period. Logisticians need a bachelor's degree, typically in business, systems management, or supply chain management. Certifications can help with employment and advancement, and are available through the American Production and Inventory Control Society, or the International Society of Logistics. Logisticians wishing to work with the Department of Defense Acquisitions need certification from Defense Acquisitions University. Logisticians need communications skills, customer service skills, critical thinking skills, organizational skills, and problem solving skills.
