Answer:

It is difficult to state with unwavering confidence, the specific classes that are required at a specific dental school. Currently, across the United States and Puerto Rico, there are a total of 66 Commission on Dental School (CODA) accredited dental schools available. Each of these schools comes with their own set of class prerequisites as well as application requirements. Given this diversity, the American Dental Association (ADA) suggests that applicants should research the nuances of each of their intended dental school(s), and be ready to apply at a minimum of one year before their desired date of enrollment.

Let it be noted, that these are some of the most common course requirements posted by dental schools (in addition to their associated labs):

  • General Chemistry
  • Organic Chemistry
  • Physics
  • Biology
  • English

Some schools also require that you have completed anatomy as well as physiology. Again, contact the enrollment department of your intended school(s) in order to ensure you are aware of their specific requirements.
