There are several certifications that finance majors can get after they complete their education. To get these certifications, holding a bachelor's degree in finance or economics is often a necessary requirement. Therefore, it is important that you get your bachelor's degree in one of these fields before you apply for a credential. A very common certification for finance majors is the Certified Financial Planner (CFP). This certification is offered by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. To get this certification, you will need to go through a special training program and pass a certification exam. The Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) is also a very popular certification in this field. It is issued by the CFA Institute. This institute requires candidates to take and pass three demanding exams and complete at least three years of work experience. There are other certifications like the Certified Management Accountant (CMA), the Certified Fund Specialist (CFS), and the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), but they are more specialized.
