Most careers in art tend to pay well, especially if you rise to top administrative positions. According to a report by PayScale, the most financially rewarding career for an art major is the Creative Director. A creative director leads a team of other creatives, including copywriters, designers, software engineers, and artists, to help in the formulation of a distinctive vision for products and services offered by an organization. They can work in several fields ranging from film, fashion, advertising, and web development. As of 2019, PayScale reports that the mid-career pay for a creative director was $96,300. Of all art majors, only 41% of them worked in this position. The perceived meaningfulness of the career was also rated 41% by PayScale.

Nonetheless, there are some other rewarding art careers, such as Design Director for Interior Design. PayScale reported that 92% of art majors went for this career and were earning an estimated $92,200 as of 2019. Additionally, the job is viewed by 70% as being meaningful, a factor that makes it one of the most contested for jobs in art.
