PALS certification is an acronym for Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification. This certification is an American Heart Association (AHA) program that provides pediatric health care providers with advanced skills and knowledge they can use in treating infants and children who are critically ill. Individuals with this certification can offer care in emergency situations and include professionals like emergency responders, intensive care unit staff, and emergency room personnel.

Earning PALS certification requires participation in a classroom course as well as passing that course's written exam with a minimum of an 84 percent. Certification also requires passing a skills test and performing well in a series of case scenarios.
