Question:
What is the difference between construction management and architecture?

Answer:
Construction managers oversee the building of a project, and architects design the project to be built.
Construction mangers are responsible for creating a budget, creating time tables, ensuring building materials arrive at a job site, and hiring trade workers to build a project. Construction mangers ensure that a project is built to specifications, on schedule, within the allotted budget, and according to specifications and legal regulations. Architects are concerned with the design portion of a building project, and create specifications, architectural drawings, and diagrams to aid in the construction of a building project. Both have duties that overlap, such as creating cost estimates, managing contracts, and ensuring that the project is built to specifications, and architects can work as construction managers. Construction managers do not typically work as architects, and can come from other backgrounds, such as holding a degree in construction management, construction science, or engineering. Some construction managers enter their position after extensive experience in the construction industry, while there are no architects who became architects through work experience in construction.
