The Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) is a mandatory examination to apply for medical schools in the United States. This exam will determine if candidates are properly prepared to attend medical school. The exam itself is divided into four sections: Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems, Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems, Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior, and Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills. Technically, there is no passing score for the MCAT since it is a normative test. Your score will be compared with other test-takers in terms of percentiles. Most medical schools have their own criteria to decide if a candidate can or cannot attend their program. If you are in the top 80 percentile, you will most likely be accepted into medical school. If you get a percentile rank of 90, you will be accepted into the best medical schools. Keep in mind that medical schools also take into account your GPA and undergraduate coursework, therefore, you should focus on those too.
