Having almost any degree on your resume will certainly aid you in becoming a Police Officer, having taken some criminal justice or related classes will help even more. It is also worth noting that having a degree does not pardon you having to complete Police Academy like every other Police Officer. And as far as getting promoted, your degree will do very little in that regard. As an entry-level Police Officer, you will have the same authority and opportunity that your fellow entry-level Police Officers have, whether they have a degree or not.

The way you get promoted in the Police Department is similar to most jobs, do good work, get solid reports, and get credit for time served. All these things, in conjunction with staying on top of your training and scoring high consistently, will be much more reliable ways to get promoted in the Police Department than falling back on your degree.
