Messiah College is located in Pennsylvania and had about 2,790 undergraduate students in 2016, per the NCES. The college offers a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Spanish that includes cross-cultural trips to Spain and allows students to pursue teaching certification for grades K through 12. Students also have access to the unique Beatriz Howe Language Laboratory designed to help students practice their speaking, listening and pronunciation skills. Outside of worship services, students can grow in their faith by participating in Koinonia men's and women's small groups, AROMA sports ministry, pastoral counseling and/or the Worship Community learning group.
Abilene Christian University
Abilene Christian University's BA in Spanish also offers a teaching certification track and study abroad opportunities. Students can also participate in Spanish-related activities, such as internships, Hispanos Unidos student group, community service projects or Sigma Delta Pi (Spanish majors honor society). In 2016, the NCES reported that the Texas university had about 3,760 undergraduate students. The university promotes spiritual formation in its students by requiring 55 spiritual formation credits each semester that can be earned through chapel services. Students can also participate in service opportunities, individual and community prayer and worship and spiritual communities.
California Baptist University
California Baptist University offers a BA in Spanish, as well as a minor. Students in the program are encouraged to study abroad in Spanish-speaking countries to immerse themselves and adapt to different cultures and improve language proficiency. The university's spiritual growth opportunities are categorized into chapel, mobilization, compassion ministries and campus ministries. Mobilization focuses on international mission and service trips, while compassion ministries focus on local service opportunities. Campus ministries include discipleship opportunities through Tribes and Discipleship Groups. According to the NCES, California Baptist University had close to 6,940 undergraduate students in 2016.
The NCES reported that Evangel University in Missouri had close to 1,630 undergraduate students in 2016. The university's BA in Spanish program is designed for students who do not plan on teaching and focuses on Spanish literature, conversation, grammar and composition. Students in the program may choose to add a double major or minor to prepare for a specific Spanish-speaking career or graduate study. In addition to chapel services, students wishing to grow in their faith can participate in residence hall devotionals, missions trips, children's ministries, street witnessing and other spiritual activities.
Oklahoma Christian University
Oklahoma Christian University's spiritual life for students includes a variety of chapel services, such as Great Songs Chapel and Women's Chapel, mission trips and online campus-wide Bible reading plans and devotionals. Students can also participate in Kite Day, where they mentor students from Oklahoma City's Stanley Hupfeld Academy at Western Village while flying kites and sharing a meal. The university's BA in Spanish requires students to complete a senior seminar course. Students in the program also take a unique Spanish Immersion Lab three times throughout the program.
