Located in Pennsylvania, Messiah College had about 2,790 undergraduate students in 2016, per the NCES. The college offers a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Music with a concentration in Music and Worship that helps students develop worship leading skills, church administration skills and a background in theology. Students in the program have access to recording and sound technology, can pursue internship opportunities for hands-on learning and can participate in the school's Worship Community and/or one of the vocal or instrumental ensembles on campus. Spiritual life on campus includes chapel and worship services, a variety of service opportunities and a few different student ministries, including World Christian Fellowship and the Student Chaplain Team.
Colorado Christian University
Colorado Christian University has a Bachelor of Music in Worship Arts that includes an internship requirement. Students in the program must also complete a performance requirement and audition for music scholarships and/or participation in university ensembles. To deepen their faith students can participate in chapel services, mission trips, Discipleship Groups, outreach opportunities and student-led ministries, such as Lifeguards (pro-life group), Bella Joy (anti-sex trafficking ministry) and Young Hearts (nursing home ministry). In 2016, the NCES reported that the university had close to 6,310 undergraduates.
Students at Dordt College in Iowa have many different spiritual growth opportunities available to them, including chapel services, spiritual retreats, small groups, praise and worship services, service projects and online video Bible studies (Right Now Media). The college had a little over 1,450 undergraduate students in 2016, per the NCES. The school offers a major in worship arts that trains students in the worship planning process and prepares them to lead in a church setting. Students can audition for one of the school's worship teams and/or participate in optional internships for hands-on learning. Students in the program receive one-on-one training from worship staff and gain experience with current technology in the field.
Ozark Christian College
Ozark Christian College in Missouri is an undergraduate institution that had 630 students in 2016, per the NCES. The college offers an Associate of Arts and BA in Music and Worship. Students in the bachelor's degree program must complete an audition and interview for admission, a music theory placement test and an internship experience. Students in the program also perform before faculty members and must participate in an ensemble each semester. The college supports students' spiritual lives with chapel services, mentoring groups, a variety of serving opportunities and other ministry activities/opportunities through the Ministry Center, including internships and the Community Ministry Expo.
Cedarville University in Ohio has a worship degree program that offers concentrations in theatre, electronic media, communication, music and preseminary. Students in the program receive practical experience and can take private lessons in piano, voice or guitar. The university also has a variety of music ministries, like chapel bands, HeartSong Ministries (traveling teams) and Resonance and Rekindle worship bands of students in the Department of Music and Worship. Other spiritual growth opportunities on campus include spiritual conferences, local and global outreach opportunities, chapel services, Discipleship Groups and student leadership. According to the NCES, the university had 3,380 undergraduate students in 2016.
