Description of Schools

Faith-based conservative colleges in California are committed to providing students with a mix of degree programs, Christian values, guidance, and even online learning. Most of the featured colleges also offer study abroad programs. Check out some of the schools below.

Pepperdine University

Pepperdine University has over 100 programs to fit a student's needs. These include continuing education to doctoral programs. While students can choose to study on campus, Pepperdine offers seven international locations for students to study abroad. Courses can be taken in countries such as Germany, China, and Italy. The university provides plenty of opportunities for students to get involved in the Christian faith. For example, this school has a Center for Faith and Learning that aims to intertwine both the Christian faith and education to provide students with a holistic learning experience.

Point Loma Nazarene University

Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU) offers programs in undergraduate and graduate studies and also allows students to study abroad. The Office of Global Studies has helped students take their studies globally, to more than 50 countries in the world. PLNU prides itself in helping students achieve not only their career goals, but also help them become better at serving others under the guidance of the Christian faith. The university boasts that it offers students more financial aid in comparison to other universities. For example, over 90% of undergraduate students received financial aid in 2016-2017, according to NCES.

Fresno Pacific University

Fresno Pacific University offers an opportunity for prospective students to attend Biblical Seminary before enrolling. This allows someone to get a taste of both the university itself and Biblical studies. Prospective students can take up to 6 units of study before they'll have to formally commit to the program. While this school also offers study abroad programs, students are encouraged to apply early as spots are limited. Programs can be studied abroad in such countries as India or Colombia.

Shasta Bible College and Graduate School

Shasta Bible College and Graduate School offers just over 15 programs for prospective students. Due to the small size, this college is heavily focused on family values and aims to instill Christian values through community participation and involvement. These opportunities are part of the efforts of the student government; additionally, staff at the college often take a personal involvement in students' lives to enrich their college experience. While it doesn't offer any study abroad programs as the other universities on this list, it does provide students with the opportunity for distance education. These online classes are available every day of the week at all hours of the day.

Conservative Christian schools in California offer students a diverse set of degree offerings, values-based programs, and opportunities to deepen one's faith. These private, 4-year institutions are located in various portions of the state.
