Florida State University
Florida State University offers a combined PhD in Counseling Psychology and School Psychology program. Students in this program can either choose to pursue a concentration in counseling or school psychology, or they can pursue a dual concentration in both fields. The program requires that students complete coursework, a practicum and internship, and a doctoral dissertation. Students can participate in several different research teams that are focused on specific areas relevant to psychology, like the Suicide Prevention team or the Career Development and Technology team.
University of Miami
At the University of Miami, students may be interested in the PhD program in counseling psychology. This program requires that students complete a number of prerequisite courses before beginning the specialty courses in counseling psychology. The curriculum also includes courses in scientific psychology as well as courses that focus on research methods and statistics. After coursework, students will begin independent research towards their doctoral dissertation.
