If you are a diversity consultant, you will be needed in a variety of fields including healthcare and higher education. Your primary role will be to ensure a company's culture and business practices, such as the hiring process and overall strategy, are fair and inclusive. You may serve as part of a company's human resources management team or work closely with them.
One focus of your role as a diversity consultant is raising awareness among personnel through training like webinars or lunch-and-learn workshops. Another aspect is to assist your company with incorporating diversity into all aspects of operation, including the products or services offered and associated marketing campaigns.
Your other job duties as a diversity consultant can include developing and executing diversity strategies that help meet company goals, evaluating and reporting on a company's employee demographics, and fostering relationships with equal employment opportunity associations to ensure you are aware of new legislation. In addition, you may also be tasked with creating and maintaining channels to source a wide variety of candidates for job openings.
