Nuclear Medical Science Officer
The Army nuclear medical science officer utilizes nuclear engineering when performing their job. Nuclear engineering is used in our military's nuclear weapons.
The nuclear medical science officer is responsible for radiation safety and protecting our troops from radiation hazards. They perform medical radiological and nuclear defense operations and participate in nuclear elimination operations. They contribute expert advice on emergency response teams.
The biochemist is a commissioned officer in the Navy who studies living things and how they are affected by medicine, environment, and agriculture. When studying chemical weapons and how they affect the body, the biochemist uses environmental engineering principles.
The biochemist helps defend our nation and troops against chemical, nuclear, and biological weapons. Their main function is to create studies, do the research, and then analyze the results. They tend to work on the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Environmental (CBRE) Training Team or with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS).
Health Facilities Architect
The health facilities architect uses architecture and civil engineering principles and methodology when designing, planning, and constructing healthcare facilities. This is a commissioned officer position with an O-1 rating in the Air Force.
The health facilities architect is responsible for ensuring that each Air Force base has an efficient and effective healthcare facility. They manage the life cycle of the facility from designing the master plans to constructing the facility. The Air Force has 76 healthcare facilities located worldwide.
Marine Science Technician
Coast Guard marine science technicians use marine engineering, the operation of mechanical equipment, when working on harbors, docks, and sea craft.
Marine science technicians ensure that our electrical, mechanical and navigation systems are in compliance with regulations, both domestic and international. By conducting security and safety inspections on our marine environment, they verify that our nation's waters are safe from hazardous materials. They also verify that safety and security requirements are met on vessels and waterfront facilities.
Support Equipment Electrician/Refrigeration & Engine/Gas Turbine Technician
Using mechanical engineering, support equipment electrician/refrigeration & engine/gas turbine technicians inspect, repair and test aircraft support equipment.
Support equipment electrician/refrigeration & engine/gas turbine technicians maintain electrical, refrigeration and engine/gas turbine systems, and their components. They perform all tasks concerning operating support equipment. In addition, they ensure that aircraft maintenance personnel are licensed to operate support and special support equipment.
