The University of Tennessee in Knoxville offers a Master of Science (MS) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Environmental Engineering. The MS program totals 30 credits, allows students to choose an optional minor if they would like, and provides a thesis or non-thesis option, where non-thesis students must take a comprehensive exam in place of a thesis. The PhD program requires at least 72 credits beyond a bachelor's degree, a dissertation, a comprehensive exam, and possibly reading knowledge of a foreign language if a student's committee deems it necessary.
