Project management is an EMBA specialization that prepares students to oversee entire projects from start to finish, including planning, design, finance, marketing, and monitoring. An Executive MBA in Project Management could be an excellent option for individuals already in the industry looking to enhance their skills and improve their career prospects. Most EMBA programs are geared toward older students who are already members of the workforce and can be scheduled around their current careers.

Executive MBA Program in Project Management

EMBA programs, and more commonly MBA programs, offer project management specializations that cover a wide range of topics pertaining to the many different careers in this field. Brand strategy, market research and planning, project development, pricing strategy, sales, and design are among the key topics covered by many project management specializations. Most programs take between 18 months and two years to complete; hold courses on evenings, weekends or online to fit a working professional's schedule; and employ a cohort format. The latter means that you attend courses as part of a group of students to allow for additional peer-to-peer learning.

Project management specializations may include the following courses:

Organizational Behavior

Students examine behavioral patterns within an organization and how they affect the project as a whole. They also learn to recognize the needs and motivations of employees as well as the most efficient management techniques for creating workable organizational structures. Ethics, conflict resolution, and group decision-making might be among the topics of discussion.

Project Planning

Students examine the specific methods for defining and planning production. They learn how to monitor and assess a project's progress on an ongoing basis. Students also explore various approaches to balance the demands facing a project manager, including budgeting, deadlines, and quality control.

Strategic Project Management

Students learn how to maximize both short- and long-term project efficiency. They also enhance their ability to build a project plan based on key goals. They develop skills in data analysis, strategic planning, and financial projection to meet the overall project objectives.

Managerial Economics

Students gain an understanding of how microeconomic analysis can be used to design plans, targets, and timelines for a project. They learn how supply, demand, and profit patterns affect efficiency and future outcomes. They also improve their ability to integrate economic principles into the fabric of each project and recognize how this information can be used to maximize business opportunities.

Business and Data Analytics

Students examine the specific methods of data analysis that can be used to define, plan, and execute project goals. Topics of study can include fundamental probability theory, introductory decision analysis and hypothesis testing. Students might also apply various techniques to churn management and cluster segmentation.

Project Management EMBA Admission Requirements

Typically, EMBA students already have management experience in the industry and are focused on increasing their existing knowledge, managerial abilities, and leadership skills. For admittance to an EMBA program you will need at least a bachelor's degree and usually several years of relevant work experience. Unlike a regular MBA program, GRE (Graduate Record Examination) or GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) results are not usually required.

Project management is a unique specialty that could provide you with an excellent selection of career opportunities. Project managers are generally responsible for supervising all aspects of a project, from planning and development to budgeting, marketing, and reporting. EMBA programs are typically scheduled outside normal working hours for the convenience of current professionals and structured in groups to allow for the sharing of expertise between professionals.
