Overview of Executive MBA Programs in Georgia

University of Georgia

The University of Georgia's Executive MBA program is designed to be completed over an 18-month timeframe through online coursework and weekend sessions, the majority of which are completed in Atlanta. Students are also required to complete a 12-day international residency. The curriculum is organized into different modules, and students complete 16 courses total, which cover topics like managerial finance, organizational behavior, negotiations, and entrepreneurship. Students can also choose to pursue an independent study project during which they identify an area within their own professional organization to which they can apply some of their newly acquired skills.

Georgia Institute of Technology

The Georgia Institute of Technology offers an Executive MBA program designed for professionals who would like to keep working while pursuing their MBA degree. This program can be completed in 17 months and entails attending courses on weekends. The core curriculum requires the completion of 14 courses, which cover topics like data analysis, cross-cultural communications, information systems, and business regulations. In addition to these core requirements, students can choose between two specialization options - management of technology or global business - which require the completion of an additional six courses. Within these concentration options, students are also required to complete a topical project within technology management or global strategy in which they apply the knowledge and skills they obtained throughout their coursework to real-world problems.

Georgia State University

Another option for students is the Executive MBA program at Georgia State University. Like other executive program formats, students can complete the coursework by attending on-campus sessions every-other Saturday and some Fridays. Students can complete all of the requirements of this program over the span of 17 months. During this time, students take courses in topics like strategic digital transformation, organizational behavior, and negotiations. All students in the program take the same courses, as the sequence has been designed specifically for executive MBA students. Additionally, students participate in two weekend experiences - a venture capital weekend and an analytics weekend. The program culminates in an international trip to a country like South Africa, where students learn about international management practices.

Kennesaw State University

The Executive MBA program at Kennesaw State University is designed to be completed in a 19-month timeframe and only requires weekend course attendance once per month. The curriculum entails completing 11 courses that cover topics like career management, enterprise value chains, leadership principles, and human capital management. The program is also globally focused, as students complete a 10-day international residency experience at the end of the degree program and also have the opportunity to develop their skills over an 8-month international team experience.

Emory University

Another option for students is the Weekend MBA for Executives program at Emory University. This program can be completed in 16 months, and enrolled students are required to complete ten core courses that cover a number of foundational concepts in business and management. Students then can take electives to specialize their degrees according to their interests. Electives are organized into four different categories - finance, strategy, information systems and operations management, and healthcare. Students can also participate in a number of immersive and experiential elements, including a global residency and the Leader's Reaction Course.

Admissions Standards for Executive MBA Programs in Georgia

When applying to an Executive MBA program, students need to prepare an application file that typically must include a completed application form, letters of recommendation, past academic transcripts from both the undergraduate and graduate level, as applicable, and a personal statement. GMAT or GRE scores may also be required, though some executive programs waive this requirement for applicants. Additionally, because these programs are designed for working professionals, applicants are typically expected to have several years of work experience.

To summarize, there are a variety of options for students seeking Executive MBA programs in Georgia. These programs differ in terms of how long they take to complete, what curriculum options they offer, and the course formats. Prospective students are advised to further research each program they are interested in.
