Overview of Executive MBA Programs in Houston
While its main campus is in New Orleans, Tulane University's Freeman School of Business offers an Executive MBA program on its Houston campus that students can complete in only 18 months by attending courses on alternating weekends. The curriculum of this program is split into 12 modules over four terms, in addition to a pre-program session where students will complete some prep courses and an orientation to prepare for program. All students must complete the core curriculum, which covers topics like decision models and business analytics, and then are able to personalize their degree along either a finance or management track. Students who select the finance track will learn about risk management and portfolio theory, while management track students will study change management and corporate strategy. The program also requires students to attend two intensive weeks, one at the beginning of the program and one towards the end of the program, in addition to a seven-day international seminar abroad.

Students who pursue the Global Leadership program can complete the program requirements over 22 months by attending courses on Monday and Thursday evenings or over 20 months by attending courses on Fridays and Saturdays every other weekend. Both of these formats require that students complete 48 total credits and an international business residency. In addition to the core curriculum, MBA students can select from 8 specialization tracks. Track options include business modeling, leadership development, and strategic analysis. Students who decide to pursue the Global Energy program, which is focused more specifically on topics in the energy industry, can complete the program in 22 months by attending evening Monday and Thursday courses. This program also requires the completion of a core curriculum, and all students in this program take the same elective courses, which include topics in energy policy, energy value change, and energy accounting, among others.
Another option for Houston students is the Executive MBA program at Rice University, which is designed to be completed over 22 months by attending courses every other weekend. This program's curriculum is the same for all enrolled students during the first year of the program. Students can gain a foundational understanding of many key concepts in business, including business analytics, accounting, and corporate finance. During the second year, students select elective courses according to their own interests and career field. The last semester of the program is globally focused, and students are required to complete three courses that have an international scope. Additionally, at the beginning and end of each academic year, students participate in week-long executive forums, all of which have a different focus and one of which will take place at an international location. Students also have the opportunity to pursue a health care specialization track in this program.
