Ohio Schools with Executive MBA Programs

Cleveland State University

Cleveland State University in Cleveland has an Executive MBA program that can be completed in 19 months. This full-time program follows a cohort model and holds classes on Saturdays. The program begins with a Manager's Workshop that allows students to connect with faculty and their cohort and begin performing case analysis. Students in the program also participate in an international study tour with their cohort.

Bowling Green State University

Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green offers a 21-month Executive MBA program. Students in the program meet once a month on the weekend to participate in class discussions, projects and case studies. The program provides cohort sizes of about 20 to 25 students and includes a study abroad experience that focuses on international management. Students take courses in topics such as ethics, accounting, global supply chain management, organizational leadership and marketing.

The Ohio State University

The Ohio State University in Columbus provides an Executive MBA program that can be completed in 17 months. The program includes domestic and international immersions to provide students with hands-on experience. Students meet on campus once a month for a 3-day period to complete coursework. Classroom work includes projects that address and look to solve business problems the students are experiencing.

Kent State University

Kent State University in Kent has an Executive MBA program that takes 19 months to complete. Classes meet online in-between once-a-month campus meetings on the weekend; summer coursework is offered fully online. The program includes an international business trip that lasts 10 days and may take place in countries like Ireland, Brazil, China, Italy or Vietnam. While traveling internationally, students complete a global project and meet with international business leaders.

Case Western Reserve University

Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland offers a 21-month Executive MBA program. The program includes a 10-day international study trip in the summer and classes meet once a month for a 3-day session (Thursday through Saturday). During their last semester students complete an Application Project that requires students to design new opportunities for their organizations to utilize resources. The program also offers the opportunity for those working in a nonprofit to earn their Executive MBA Nonprofit Certificate.

Common Entrance Requirements

Executive MBA programs, including those in Ohio, typically require more years of professional work experience than a traditional MBA program, with some programs requiring 7 to 10 years of experience. Many of these programs also waive the GMAT or GRE test score requirement if students meet work experience, GPA and/or other criteria. Usually, applicants will need to submit their transcripts, letters of recommendation, resume and/or goal statement or essay responses with their application. Some programs may also require a letter of support from the student's employer. A few of these programs may require or include an optional interview process.

Students in Ohio can complete their Executive MBA in as little as 17 months and usually are required to meet for classes only on occasional weekends. These programs typically include an international study trip, but each program also provides other unique learning opportunities, such as domestic trips or graduate certificate options.
