Kansas Online Learning Program

The Kansas Online Learning Program is a public school option offering tuition-free secondary education to students who live in Kansas. Students who enroll at KOLP have access to a large number of core curriculum classes that fulfill state requirements, including honors courses, as well as a number of electives like Spanish, French, health science, digital art, and lifetime fitness. In addition to courses in the core curriculum areas, students can select from classes like game design, computer applications, psychology, entrepreneurship, Spanish, and personal fitness. Some of these courses are designed as Career Technical Courses, which are meant to expose students to topics in different career fields so that they can make more informed choices about what to pursue in college.

Insight School of Kansas

The Insight School of Kansas is also open to high school students in Kansas. As a public school, it provides tuition-free secondary education. Students at Insight all receive an individualized learning plan, which staff at Insight create by working with students and their families. These plans outline students' coursework, identify their academic strengths, and highlight strategies that students may employ to overcome challenges and weaknesses so that they are successful academically. In addition, students at Insight must participate in social and emotional learning sessions that occur virtually twice per week and focus on different areas, like social awareness and decision making. Insight also provides upperclassmen with guidance regarding college, including financial aid information and application help.

K12 International Academy

K12 International Academy is an accredited, private online high school, meaning students who live in Kansas would be able to enroll. Students at K12 can select from a large variety of courses, both for their core courses and for their electives. For example, K12 offers courses in literary analysis and composition, forensic science, microeconomics, Latin, Chinese, journalism, and creative writing, to name a few. Students also can select from a wide number of AP courses. State Regulations for Online Schools in Kansas

In order to graduate from high school in the state of Kansas, students must take four units of English and language arts, three units of history and government, three units of science with at least one laboratory course, three units of mathematics, one unit of physical education, one unit of fine arts, and six additional elective courses.
