Implementation Manager: Job Description & Salary

When a company is changing operational procedures or introducing new software or equipment an implementation manager will oversee the introduction of the changes. They prepare staff and oversee the process to ensure the transition is smooth.

Career Definition of an Implementation Manager

Implementation managers develop processes in order to effectively introduce new programs or systems into the workplace. Many implementation managers are involved with facilitating the use of new computers, technology or software so it is common for implementation managers to work closely with information technology (IT) staff. The implementation manager is a type of project manager that works specifically on introducing new systems and equipment. They aren't involved with creating computer programs or the new technology but they do have the responsibility of ensuring that new resources are implemented effectively.

In order to do this the implementation manager will clarify their company's goals. They will develop an implementation strategy, which involves identifying the tasks that need to be completed to prepare staff for the new resources. They also ensure that the staff who will be using the new equipment or software are informed about the changes in advance and receive appropriate training to prepare for implementation. The implementation manager may also delegate tasks to staff to ensure that deadlines are met. When issues are identified they relay them and seek answers to relevant questions that staff have. In order to complete their duties effectively they must remain in contact with the project manager overseeing the creation of the resources. Implementation managers may also work in other departments in which they are responsible for implementing operational processes or programs for staff or clients.
