Fortunately, there are a number of areas to explore that do not require applicants to have prior experience. Career Information for Jobs that Do Not Require Experience

Construction Laborers and Helpers

Construction laborers and helpers assist the tradesmen who work on construction sites. Their duties can range from doing physical labor, such as lifting and moving materials, to operating machinery. Some may assist specific tradesmen, such as plumbers. It's possible to enter this career field without a high school diploma, although it may be an asset, and construction laborers do not need prior experience; they can learn through on-the-job training.

Cashiers

Cashiers do not necessarily need to complete high school, but some employers prefer applicants who have a high school diploma or GED. They receive training from experienced cashiers once they're hired and do not need experience to enter this job field. Cashiers operate scanners and registers to determine how much a customer's bill is and then take payment for the goods being purchased. Their duties can also involve bagging items, giving refunds for products that are returned and balancing the till at the end of their shift.

Customer Service Representatives

Generally, the only requirement to become a customer service representative is to have a high school diploma. Previous experience isn't necessary, although good communication and computer skills may appeal to potential employers. It's most common for these representatives to talk with customers over the phone or communicate online, and their primary focus is serving customer needs. They perform tasks such as issuing refunds and documenting the steps taken to address any complaints.

Janitors and Building Cleaners

Janitors and building cleaners maintain supplies and ensure buildings are properly cleaned. They perform routine tasks such as washing surfaces and restocking supplies. Their duties can also include making repairs and clearing snow from sidewalks. Previous experience isn't necessary to become a janitor and building cleaner, and it's also possible to enter this field without a high school diploma or GED.

Waiters and Waitresses

Waiters and waitresses do not need a high school diploma or practical work experience. They are trained once they're hired. They look after the dining needs of the people who come to their restaurant. Some of the duties waiters and waitresses perform include bringing food orders to customers and clearing dishes from tables after patrons have finished eating.

Delivery Truck Drivers and Driver/Sales Workers

Although it is possible to become a delivery truck driver or driver/sales worker without graduating from high school, most of these professionals have a high school diploma or GED. They also need a driver's license and good driving history, but they do not need any previous experience to start out in this career. Once hired, they receive on-the-job training. Their work involves operating vehicles to transport goods from one location to another and collecting payments.

Home Health Aides

Home health aides are workers who provide care to people who need assistance. They may work with people who are elderly, have a disability or are ill. Their duties can involve a wide range of tasks that may include driving clients to different locations, cooking their meals and helping them bathe. Home health aides do not need previous experience and do not necessarily need a high school diploma, although it may be an asset.
