Public Relations Specialist

Public relations specialists are employed by companies and organizations in order to manage their public image. They may work on a team with other specialists in public relations, advertising, and marketing to make sure their company is viewed favorably by consumers. Some of their duties could include writing press releases, writing speeches, providing feedback for advertising and promotional campaigns, and managing social media accounts. Often public relations specialists report to a supervisor or public relations manager, which is an attainable position after years of work experience. To become a public relations specialist, you will need a bachelor's degree in the field.

Advertising Sales Agent

Advertising sales agents work on behalf of various media productions and publications to sell advertising space. They work to develop relationships with clients, handle all communication and financial aspects of the transaction, and explain the benefits of advertising. Advertising sales agents often work on a team of agents under the supervision of a sales manager. Sales agents may aspire to become a manager after many years of experience. To become an advertising sales agent, only a high school diploma is required for some positions, while others require a bachelor's degree. On-the-job training is usually a component of most positions.

Police Officer

Police officers work in various capacities by enforcing laws, patrolling the streets, and keeping the public safe. There are several opportunities for police officers who want to advance in their field. They may work their way up to become a corporal, sergeant, lieutenant, or captain. Some police officers may even become detectives or advance to work in more specialized law enforcement agencies. To become a police officer, you will need a high school diploma and possibly a college degree, depending on the type of law enforcement you are interested in.


An EMT is an emergency responder. They are often the first people to arrive on the scene of an accident, crime, or medical emergency. They are responsible for assessing the overall condition of a patient. As an EMT-Basic, you have the ability to work towards becoming an Advanced EMT, meaning you would be able to administer some medications and IV fluids. Advanced EMTs have the option of working towards becoming a full-fledged paramedic, who is capable of providing more advanced care to patients. To become an EMT-Basic, you will need to complete a postsecondary educational program; the higher levels of certification require additional education and experience.

Financial Analyst

As a financial analyst, you will work with individual clients as well as large companies and businesses and provide financial advice and guidance. Some of your responsibilities may include reviewing a client's financial data, recommending investment plans, and predicting trends in the market. Financial analysts often work on a team or under the supervision of a financial manager. To advance to a manager position, it is necessary to have at least five years of experience as a financial analyst or in a similar role. To get started as a financial analyst, you will need a bachelor's degree in a field like finance or accounting.


Lawyers represent clients, both individuals and companies, and help them navigate legal matters. This may include providing them with legal counsel if they are accused of committing a crime, helping them draft legal documents, and filing legal documents. Lawyers could advance to one day become partners in the firm in which they work or even begin their own firms. Highly experienced lawyers can even be elected as judges. To become a lawyer, you must obtain a college degree, attend law school, and pass the bar exam in the state in which you wish to work.
