Universities Offering a Master's in Management in New York
The Gabelli School of Business at Fordham University offers a Master of Science in Management (MSM). The degree takes 12 to 15 months to complete and is comprised of 24 credits of required courses and 6 credits of electives for a total of 30 credit hours. Core course requirements include such classes as accounting, global management initiatives, and organizational leadership. The program is offered both in an on-campus and an online format.
Keuka College also offers both an online and on-campus format for its Master of Science in Management program. The online format offers degree completion in less than 18 months, and the on-campus version is advertised as a 10-month curriculum. Students earn an MSM after completing 32 credit hours of coursework. Core classes include those in strategic human resource management, managerial economics, and industry analysis. Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA in the program. The curriculum includes 11 courses total.
St. Joseph's College
The MSM program offered by St. Joseph's College allows learners to delve more deeply into healthcare management, human resources management, or organizational management through concentrations in those fields. The program includes 24 credit hours of business core classes and 12 credits in the concentration area. Core courses include organizational theory, financial accounting, marketing strategies, and management information systems. Students must meet certain prerequisites, including a certain level of mathematics and accounting coursework.
The program offered at Pace University is an MS in Strategic Management. Students can also opt for an MBA in Management with concentrations in strategic management and entrepreneurship. The MS carries a requirement of 30 to 37 credit hours plus a one-credit-hour course in business writing. A capstone project is required for degree completion. The MBA is a 39-credit-hour degree that includes a capstone project. Core courses in the MS include globalization, ethics, managerial finance, and accounting. Core courses in the MBA include organizational behavior and leadership, operations management, and competitive advantage.
The Management Division at Columbia University offers management courses that allow students to focus their MBA program. Available courses that can be used to meet core requirements cover strategy formulation and leadership. Electives include options such as leadership communication skills, networking, and personal leadership. If a student is more interested in taking the engineering route, Columbia also offers an MS in Management Science and Engineering. It is cohosted by the Columbia engineering and business schools. During the course of study, students engage in three or four consulting projects. This program is 36 credit hours, which equals 12 courses total.
