The University of Texas at El Paso offers a Master of Science in Bioinformatics degree that can be completed in two years when you attend full-time. This is a 40- to 41-hour program that includes core coursework in database management, statistical programming, and introductory bioinformatics topics. You also take a range of elective courses that could center on algorithms, chemistry, molecular biology, and data analysis. Additional program requirements include an internship that could take place in the academic world, in a government agency, or in a company that focuses on bioinformatics. The University of Texas at Dallas

At the University of Texas at Dallas, you can earn a 36-credit-hour Master of Science in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology degree. In this program, you need to choose either the science/engineering track, which is for those with a general background in these fields, or the biology track. The science/engineering track requires classes on probability and statistics, linear algebra, and computer science, while the biology track requires classes on biochemistry and molecular biology.
