Massachusetts Colleges with Master's in Computer Science
University of Massachusetts
The master's program at the University of Massachusetts blends practical application with theory. Students must earn at least thirty credits to graduate, with course options like the Theory of Computation and User Interface Design. Another requirement for graduation is the completion of a software development sequence known as Capstone. Students must posses a bachelor's degree to apply for the program. They must provide two recommendation letters, their GRE score, bachelor's degree transcripts, a statement of purpose, and a resume and pay a $60 application fee.
Bridgewater State University
Bridgewater State University master's program also requires thirty credits for graduation and can be completed on a part-time or full-time basis. Students will take courses in artificial intelligence and operating systems principles. Admissions for the program consist of an online application and a $50 application fee. Supporting documentation includes college transcripts, a resume, personal statement, and three recommendation letters. Students will need an undergraduate GPA of 2.75 for all four years or a 3.0 from their last two years. They must have a 290 on the GRE General Test; however, this requirement will be waived for undergraduate Bridgewater students or alumni within three years of graduation with at least a 3.5 GPA.
Northeastern University master's program is typically completed within 2.5-3.5 years. The university offers part-time or full-time enrollment, as well as on-campus classes in the evenings. The program allows students to earn up to a year of work experience via paid internship opportunities. Students will complete an online application that includes their transcripts, resume, statement of purpose, and three letters of recommendation. It should be noted that international students will need to supply their unofficial TOEFL scores as part of the admissions process.
Tufts University offers student the option to complete the program via a project-based study track or a master's thesis. The first option takes a year to complete, while the thesis option takes two years. The enrollment process entails submitting an application with a resume, personal statement, three letters of recommendation, and transcripts. Students will need to submit their GRE scores; however, that requirement is waived for current Tufts students and part-time student with five years of relevant work experience.
Wentworth Institute of Technology
Wentworth Institute of Technology offers an online program for the master's in applied computer science. Students will need thirty credits to graduate and can complete the program on a part-time basis if desired. Wentworth requires applicants to posses a bachelor's degree in a discipline like computer science, information technology, or software engineering. Students will submit the following admissions materials:
