At Columbia University, located in New York City, you could choose to attend the MHA program either full time or part time. The full-time MHA can be completed in two years with coursework on healthcare budgeting, healthcare marketing, human resources, and strategic management. This program also includes professional development classes, a summer practicum, and a health systems simulation. The part-time, evening MHA requires 45.5 credits with similar coursework to the full-time counterpart but no practicum requirement. However, you are required to complete the health system simulation, which is held at a hospital and involves strategic analysis of an organization's overall operation.

Hofstra University

Located in Hempstead, Hofstra University has a 48-semester-hour MHA degree. The required coursework for this program includes classes on such subjects as healthcare finance, health policy, ethics, and healthcare economics. Your elective courses could depend on your optional academic track, either long-term care administration or operations management and administration. After you complete your first semester, you must take and pass the MHA: Excel Learning Plan workshop module. In this program, a health administration internship and an original research capstone project are also required.

Cornell University, with a campus in Ithaca, offers a 60-credit-hour MHA degree that features several practical learning experiences and a year-long group capstone project. Along with classes in healthcare delivery, management, finance, law, and policy, you could take specialized weekend courses taught by national experts on topics like big data, healthcare supply chain management, and unconventional leadership. This program also includes the Sloan Colloquium Series, which features guest speakers and professional development workshops. Also required is a yearly trip, one to New York City where you will visit hospitals and medical centers and one to Washington D.C. to meet with policymakers and advocacy groups.

Utica College

Utica College has an online MHA degree program that can be completed in two years. This MHA program also allows you to choose from three different specializations: acute care, long-term care, or service organizations.
