Georgia Mathematics Graduate Programs

Clark Atlanta University

You can pursue two master's degrees at Clark Atlanta University: applied mathematics or pure mathematics. If interested, you can join the university's mathematics society, which aims to improve academic performance. You can also join Pi Mu Epsilon, the Honorary National Mathematics Society. You will need to provide the following as part of the admissions process:

  • Graduate application with $40 fee
  • Official transcripts for all undergraduate or graduate schools attended
  • GRE scores from the last five years
  • Three recommendation letters and a resume

Emory University

Emory University offers a Master of Science and a PhD in Mathematics. You will need an undergraduate degree in mathematics to enroll in either program. The PhD program offers four areas of concentration: algebra and number theory, analysis and differential geometry, discrete mathematics, and computational mathematics. Available courses include differential topology and numerical analysis.

To apply, you will submit an online application with a $75 fee. Other admissions requirements include a resume, a statement of purpose, transcripts, letters of recommendation, and GRE scores.

Georgia Institute of Technology

You can earn a Master of Science in Mathematics at the Georgia Institute of Technology. It is a 30-credit program that requires credits in at least three different mathematics areas. You will need to earn a C or better in all coursework and maintain a 2.7 GPA. With this program, you will choose either a thesis or non-thesis track. Coursework is offered in areas like differential equations and algebra. Georgia Tech also offers a PhD program in mathematics that requires 39 credit hours.

You will need a bachelor's degree in order to apply to these programs. Supporting application documents include contact information for two or three references, official transcripts, and official GRE results, with a resume recommended.

Georgia Southern University

Georgia Southern University awards a Master of Science in Mathematics, with specializations in pure mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, and computational science. You will need to complete 36 credits for this degree. Upon graduation, you can enter the workforce or go on to complete your PhD.

Eligibility requirements include a bachelor's degree in a mathematics, science, or engineering discipline along with coursework in areas like linear algebra and probability. You will need to provide your GRE scores. It should be noted that you may be accepted on a conditional basis if you don't meet basic admissions requirements.

University of Georgia

You can pursue several math degrees at the University of Georgia, including a Master of Arts and PhD. The university also offers a Master of Applied Mathematical Sciences, an interdisciplinary program in which you will study an issue related to one of several possible areas, such as marine sciences or finance. You will create a report based on your findings and present it to the faculty. The university requires that you hold a bachelor's degree to apply. Application materials include transcripts and recommendation letters.

Mathematics master's and PhD programs in Georgia are plentiful, but you will need a bachelor's degree to be admitted. Some of the schools require that you possess a degree in an applicable discipline, like mathematics or engineering.
