Online MBA & MHA Dual Degree Programs

MBA & MHA programs allow you to earn either a single degree or two degrees that combine the fields of business administration and health care administration. This type of degree prepares you for a business career in health care, including roles in health insurance, health care management, or with pharmaceutical companies. You can earn this degree online, and below are some specific online MBA & MHA programs.

University of Scranton

The dual MBA & MHA program at the University of Scranton, in Pennsylvania, is a 65-credit hour program that can be completed online. This program will require that you take core courses in such topics as accounting, ethics in health care, and health care research methods as well as elective courses in management theories. You will also need to take an international course that touches on topics of business in a global sense. Last, you can choose to complete a health care related internship or an optional administrative residency. If you are a full-time student, you could complete this program in about two and a half years.

Pfeiffer University

North Carolina's Pfeiffer University offers a 54-credit MBA & MHA joint degree that can be completed entirely online and also offers on-campus classes. You will need to take coursework in a range of subjects that include leadership, economics and health, and organizational behavior. This program also offers an optional international research trip where you will travel to Europe or Canada and study with Pfeiffer faculty.

William Woods University

Located in Fulton, Missouri, William Woods University offers a dual MBA & MHA degree that can be earned with 60 credits, 36 of which are in the MBA area of study and 24 in the MHA area of study. At the end of this program, you will also earn two diplomas. The MHA part of the degree is done entirely online, and the MBA portion can be done online or on campus. Some of the coursework you will be required to take includes topics in legal theories of health care, management concepts, and policy issues in the health care world.

Stetson University/AdventHealth University

Stetson University and AdventHealth University, which are both located in Florida, have an MBA & MHA program that you can finish in two and a half years. At the end of this program, you will earn two separate degrees: an MBA from Stetson University and an MHA from AdventHealth University. This program is all online with flexible coursework with classes taking 7-8 weeks or even 14 weeks. Over the course of this program you will take classes on financial management, decision making, and public health policy.

Webster University

Webster University's program will earn you two separate degrees. You will need to earn 57 credits in this program with 27 credits in core courses in health care administration and 10 in general business administration. Some topics you will cover include health care marketing, finance, and HR management. You can complete the MBA part of this program online, but the MHA will need to be done at one of the university's several campuses located throughout the US.

Common Admittance Requirements

There are some common admittance requirements for each of these programs, including holding a bachelor's degree, submitting an application, letters of recommendation, and a statement of purpose. Some programs will also require professional working experience, and others might require GMAT or GRE scores. It's important that you research the individual admittance requirements for each program.
