Overview of MBA Programs in Miami

Barry University

Barry University has an evening MBA program that allows students to take 1-3 classes per semester. Required courses include Technology and Information Systems and Managerial Finance. Students can also enroll in a distance learning MBA program with concentrations like health services administration and international business. All of the distance learning programs are 36 credits and can be completed in a year. Students need to submit an admissions portfolio that includes an online application, GMAT scores, official bachelor's degree transcripts, a resume, and a statement of purpose.

Florida International University

Students can complete a Professional MBA Flex degree at Florida International University, which offers evening and online classes, and can be completed in two years. Specializations include strategic negotiations and business analytics. Admissions criteria includes a bachelor's degree with a 3.0 GPA. The application process requires official transcripts, a resume, a statement of purpose, and employment verification for any positions prior to earning a bachelor' degree.

The university also has a Professional MBA Online degree that offers 8-week classes and 8 specializations such as marketing channel strategy and business data analytics. Students take courses like Corporate Finance and Financial Reporting and Analysis. The admissions criteria are the same as the Flex program; however, students will also need two years of relevant work experience with GMAT and GRE scores. They will need to submit a resume, official transcripts, a statement of purpose, and two recommendation letters.

Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico - Miami

Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico - Miami has an MBA program that focuses on incorporating technology into students' learning. Students will take 18 credits of required courses, with the option to specialize in Management of International Enterprises, Computer Information Systems, or General Management. They will need a bachelor's degree with a 2.5 GPA in order to apply. Students will complete an online application and supply materials like recommendation letters.

University of Miami

Students can enroll in the University of Miami's full-time, 21-month MBA program. They will complete required courses in the first year and choose elective classes for the second year. Required courses range from Financial Reporting and Analysis to Analytical Thinking and Effective Speaking. The application process includes a resume, official transcripts, GMAT or GRE scores no older than 5 years, and an interview.

St. Thomas University

St. Thomas University awards an MBA in Management. Students enrolled full-time can earn their degree in less than 18 months. Core program coursework includes International Business and Financial Management. It should be noted that students without a bachelor's degree in business will need to complete preparatory classes in areas like statistical analysis. Prospective students should submit an online application and provide their official transcripts.
