The state of Utah has no shortage of MBA programs that provide students with hands-on learning experiences and flexible coursework. Here we discuss a few of the schools, their degree options and admission requirements in more detail.

Utah Schools with MBA Programs

The University of Utah

The University of Utah in Salt Lake City offers a traditional, full-time MBA, as well as an online, a Professional and an Executive MBA program. The traditional MBA takes 4 semesters to complete and offers courses during the day or evening, while the online MBA takes 6 semesters to complete and offers weekly live sessions. The Professional MBA takes 6 semesters to complete and offers courses twice a week on campus or online and the Executive MBA takes 5 semesters to complete and meets on Fridays and Saturdays every other week on campus. Working professionals may also pursue the school's executive education options with courses on campus, online or on-location and the option to earn certificates in leadership and management.

Utah State University

Utah State University in Logan has an on-campus and online MBA program, as well as a Professional MBA program and dual MBA programs with a Master of Human Resources or Master of Management Information Systems. The traditional on-campus MBA program is a full-time program that can be finished in 1 year and includes a Global Learning Experience that can take place in a range of countries, such as Panama, Italy, Japan and England. The online MBA program requires 36 credits and includes course topics in accounting, management, leadership and business analytics. The Professional MBA is available in an evening or weekend format at various locations throughout Utah, as well as one location in Idaho.

Utah Valley University

Utah Valley University in Orem provides an accelerated and a Professional MBA program that each total 36 credits. The accelerated program is full-time and can be completed in 1 year, while the professional program is part-time and can be completed in 2 years. Students in these programs can choose from a concentration in marketing, finance, management or technology management and have the potential to earn various certifications within each concentration, such as certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) in the management concentration. The programs conclude with a hands-on MBA consulting project for real-world application and experience.

Southern Utah University

Cedar City's Southern Utah University offers an on-campus and online MBA program. Students can choose from an accelerated version that can be completed in 1 year or a comprehensive version that takes 2 years to complete. Students in the programs may also choose to take courses during the summer or take a summer semester off. The program does not offer concentrations, but students can take electives from areas like economics, entrepreneurship, data analytics, accounting and finance.

Westminster College

Westminster College in Salt Lake City has a unique, self-paced MBA program that actually locks in your tuition rate for up to 5 years to allow for a more flexible schedule. The program is usually completed in 2 to 3 years and allows students to choose from concentrations in high-performance organizations, entrepreneurship, marketing and business analytics. Students in the program also participate in an international trip for hands-on global business experience. Some students in the program may pursue a certificate in accounting in preparation for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam.

Common Entrance Requirements

Admission requirements for MBA programs in Utah vary based on the institution and type of MBA program. In general, students applying to these programs need at least a bachelor's degree and GRE or GMAT test scores. Some programs may require students to meet specific test scores and/or a minimum GPA requirement. Some programs also require prerequisite coursework in areas such as statistics, economics, marketing, accounting and more and/or professional work experience. Commonly, applicants will need to include their transcripts, letters of recommendation, resume and personal statement/statement of intent with their application and many schools include an interview process.

Students in Utah can pursue on-campus or online MBA programs that can be self-paced, part-time or full-time. Many of these programs allow students to choose from various concentration areas, participate in international experiences and/or earn additional certificates or certifications.
